Who am I??

I still remember when I was 13 years old, the desire to do business first took hold, and I imagined myself in the place of Steve Jobs.

- Yes! it was he who inspired me.

He is not just a great innovator but also a brilliant marketer

However, my aptitude for physics and mathematics led me to choose MPC (maths, physics, chemistry) after obtaining my secondary school certificate. I completed my higher secondary education. After that, I faced the most complicated situation of my life where I had to make a decision about my career. I needed to choose my degree course, and my ability for critical thinking and problem-solving skills convinced me to opt for Engineering, but as I grew older, my desire to lead a career in business increased exponentially. It was a tough decision to choose a bachelor's in engineering over business administration at Christ University, one of the top colleges for BBA in India, where I had been admitted. But my 17-year-old mind was captivated by the fact that Indian CEOs and top-level executives of globally renowned companies were once engineers, and this motivated me to give it some thought. After much deliberation, I realized that the growing technology in businesses and the digital revolution in the world require business executives with the ability to understand technology as well. So, I decided to pursue Engineering first, followed by an MBA. I chose Electronics and Communications Engineering, which covers a vast array of subjects that are required by most businesses in the future.

- I'm still doubtful today about that decision, but I'm confident that I'm doing my best to build my career in business.

However, in the final year of my engineering, I was placed at IT MNC Cognizant as a programmer analyst trainee to work as a data engineer. My training at Cognizant began in the final phase of my engineering, and I successfully completed my engineering with the final project submission. It's been four years of life, filled with moments to remember that made me laugh and also made me cry, with both personal and professional learnings. I was 21 years old then and started seeing myself as a young adult with more maturity and responsibilities. In these four years, along with technical skills, my basic business skills also grew with my desire to learn more about business, aided by case studies, podcasts, and interviews with great business people of the world. My internship came to an end, and I received a full-time offer letter, but my craving for business administration didn't end, and I began to prepare for the GMAT exam to get into the best B-schools in the world. But in the midst of my preparation, I came to know that I could not afford an MBA.

Life may take you through many obstacles, but never stop breathing and never stop chasing your dreams

I started looking for alternatives to an MBA with a mix of anger and excitement—I don't know how to define that feeling, but it was definitely not disappointment. Between the end of my internship and the start of my full-time job, I applied to a few master's programs that I could afford and felt had the potential to replace the MBA in my life. I began working at Cognizant, and in the fourth month of my job, I received an offer from University College Cork for an MSc in Management & Marketing. Fast forward to today, I am working as a Medical Marketing Intern for Advanced Energy Industries' Medical Business Unit with their strategic marketing team, which is a global leader in its sector.

I don't know how my life would have been if I had chosen BBA over an Engineering, but today I am capable of understanding technology and its needs in business, working with ITC tools required for marketing and other business requirements. And today, I am confident that I can build a great career by doing my best for the organization to achieve the best.
